The F.A.Q.

Q1: How do I join?
A: Go to the Join Us link in the left side bar and follow the instructions.

Q2: How do I post?
A: Go to a posting area, type in a message, enter your username and password. Press the Preview and it shows you what it will look like. You can edit that in the orginal writing area or you can finalize it by posting it.

Q3: What is the "Anonymous" box for?
A: It allows you to post a message without identifying who you are. It allows a player to add detail to their story and or introduce their own non-player character into their game/story. You must add your username and password posting anonymously, when posted it wont show who your character is.

Q4: I posted and didn't get a response from anyone, why?
The game doesn't have a gamemaster that guides you around throwing monsters and villains at the players. (Sometimes people may pop into your story unexpectedly to add some extra life for short periods but as a general rule you are on your own!) You make it happen. Be careful not to post in such a way that you are waiting for another character to post and can't otherwise continue. This will greatly lower your enjoyment level. Players post at different intervals and sometimes, believe it or not, the real world interferes with this fantasy western world. Much play is solo with you creating the scenario for your character/s.

Q5: How often can I post?
As often as you wish. Try to allow time for the other players in your group to post, the interaction adds fun. If you cannot post for more than 2 days you should be advising the other people in your group, please do not keep another player waiting too long. On the 3rd day that player may move out of the scenario on their own.

Q6: What is OCC and IC?
OCC = out of character: players sending you a message on where their character is going or perhaps that they will be away
IC: in character

Q7: How long should my posts be?
Try to put some meat on it. Tell the others what you are wearing, what you are thinking and what you are saying. Let them make a mental picture of your character and allow them to draw some conclusions on how to react. Just make yourself clear on what your saying, so it can be understood. Check your spelling, use punctuations- do not run words together, use caps where necessary. No all small letter posting.

Q8: How do I join a group?
A: Easy. You can e-mail the people involved privately. Just click on their Username in any post on the forum. Most people are looking for others to write with but it's courteous to ask. You can also post OCC "Can I join you?" You can also post in such a way that it encourages (or discourages) somone to join in.

i.e. Samantha saw the cowboy in the corner of the saloon and decided he was an opportunity worth exploring ...

i.e. Samantha saw the old miner at the bar. He had been doing some hard drinking and had a lonely look to his deep brown eyes. She knew the look and right now she didn't want to hear his sad story ...

Q9: Why are some applications rejected?
A1- Some applicants don't bother to complete the form or fail to submit sufficient info to demonstrate they want to be a serious player.
A2- Some applicants submissions are so bizarre that they don't fit with the nature of the game (i.e. magic using cowboy).
A3- Some applicants demonstrate they didn't bother to read the rules.

Player applications should be in sentence form with proper spelling and grammar. Serious thought should go into character development so that you can maximize the fun of playing that character. No all caps or all small letter applications will be accepted.

Q10: The character submitted was "adjusted": why?
A- Rather than to outright reject a number of applications, I decide to simply "be nice" and to help out by editing the character's information to a point that I find it would be acceptable. Most of what I do is common sense like fixing spelling and grammar, but sometimes I balance weaknesses and strengths. Younger players sometimes have the need to want a super-character and the reality is ... that doesn't work in this game. (It's the weaknesses and vulnerability that makes the game more fun. No one wants to interact with Mr. Invulnerable, perfect fast shot, ladies' man, awesome gambler, etc.). Sometimes I need to give it perspective, like if your character is 6 years old, you won't be drinking in the local saloon or have a reputation has a gun fighter.
