Physical Description/Clothing:
He is unshaven most of the time and rather dirty, too. He has a large hunting knife on his left hip in a black sheath on his gunbelt; it has a basic black handle. He has two black gunbelts on, criss-crossed over each other, each holding a buscadero style holster, tied down, with 1869 Remington Police model revolvers (.38-100 caliber) with dark wood handles starting to show some wear. The gunbelts have cartridge loops on them and each contain 50 rounds of ammo for the revolvers.

He has broad shoulders, grey eyes, and a weathered, leathery face with deep wrinkles, especially around the eyes; they make him almost appear older than his years suggest. He wears a grey cowboy hat with a flat top, referred to as the "Northern" style, a grey "Fishskin" riding coat, blue jeans, a grey double breasted shirt, a dark paisly vest, a black leather belt, black boots, and of course socks and a red union suit. Around his neck he wears a grey (what else) bandana, with the wide part toward the front (usually to keep the dust out of his mouth, not to rob people and hide his face, really.)

Background Information:
He grew up in Northwestern Virginia, attended school regularly and left home at the age of 15 to go west. He took odd jobs and when down on his luck joined a band of outlaws, later leaving them when he had it out with a couple of them after they had raped a girl; he killed one and fled. He joined a police force in a small town in Nebraska and stayed there about a year. In 1862, at the age of 20, he returned to his home shortly after the war broke out. He had family fighting on both sides of the war. He joined the North to fight against secession, trying to check on his family home often. His family home was pillaged by both sides at times during the war, 3 (2 male, 1 female) of his 8 (3 male and 2 female remaining) siblings and both his parents were killed during the war. After the war he returned west and became a rather profitable bounty hunter, mainly going after war criminals; he also started a personal campaign of trying to help the downtrodden and oppressed. Several times he has wanted to settle down, but something always comes in the way. He occasionally rides and/or works with some of his cousins and siblings; most have come out west also. He recently helped some sodbusters in keeping their land from a greedy local cattle baron, killing the baron himself and 3 of his 4 sons. He found himself with a fancy to one of the sodbuster girls, but she refused to leave with him and married another just in protest. The fourth son of the cattle baron is now following him - he knows someone is, but is rather despondent and has chosen not to confront them. He is now traveling aimlessly until he finds something or someone else that catches his interest again and sparks a new life in him.

Equipment/Livestock/Property/Money:
He has two excellent horses, one large grey, one muscular black, but no other property to speak of. The grey has his saddle, bridle and pads, plus saddle bags with a mess kit, a knife sharpening stone and razor sharpening leather strap, a shaving razor, field glasses, 1# chewing tobacco, 56 .45-28 rounds for the Winchester, a bar of soap, a small notebook, a quill and some ink in a metal flask, a metal alcohol flask, a pair of gloves, and a canteen; there is also a sheath with a '66 Winchester 17 shot rifle, a water skin and a bed roll on the saddle. The black has a pack saddle with waterproof bags containing: extra socks, boots, jeans, pants, shirts, a heavy jacket, a suit, a tie, suspenders, a needle, some thread, 3 trade blankets, 100' heavy rope, 150' light rope, 2 water skins, 15 days of trail rations, several classics books, an assortment of newspapers from different areas, a bible, a tarp, 100 rounds in a cartridge belt for the Buffalo Rifle, a cartridge belt with 50 12g shotgun loads, a gun repair kit, a tin of matches with a screw-on top; plus a rifle case with a Sharps .50 Buffalo Rifle with a 30x scope and a sheath with a double-barrel 12g shotgun. He has a Remington Over-Under 2 shot derringer in his vest pocket and a gold watch of his father's attached to the vest with a small gold chain and in the watch pocket; his revolvers have been balanced and include a shaved trigger, lightened main spring and 4" barrel. He has saved most everything that he earned bounty hunting; he has $334.95 on his person ($200 in his money belt) and has deposited $2500 into a Western Union draft account.
